Brown Manor

The Home for the homeless

Brown Manor

Brown Manor is an initiative dedicated to providing a safe space for individuals who are lost, left out, and lonely, enabling them to restore their lives. The house, previously abandoned, is undergoing significant restoration. Essential repairs such as roofing, heating, and plumbing are needed to make the facility habitable. The project was founded by Anthony Brown, a survivor of childhood trauma, abuse, substance use, and past incarcerations. Brown’s journey from homelessness to stability inspired him to create a sanctuary for others facing similar challenges. His life story is one of resilience and transformation. After spending 23 years homeless, he found stability through employment and dedicated his resources to purchasing Brown Manor. His past experiences with trauma and addiction, as well as his encounters with various officials who acknowledged the homelessness problem but lacked resources to address it, motivated him to take action.

The impact of Brown Manor extends beyond the individuals it directly serves. By demonstrating the effectiveness of a comprehensive, integrated approach to homelessness, Brown Manor aims to influence broader policy and program development. It serves as a model for other communities and organizations, showcasing how targeted, holistic interventions can create lasting change.

It represents a pioneering initiative in the fight against homelessness in America. By addressing the root causes of homelessness and providing a structured, supportive environment, Brown Manor offers a sustainable solution that empowers individuals to regain their independence and rebuild their lives. Brown’s vision and dedication, informed by his own experiences, have created a blueprint for how society can effectively combat homelessness.

Brown Manor represents Brown’s vision of creating a supportive environment where those struggling with addiction and mental illness can find hope and rebuild their lives. The facility aims to demonstrate that with the proper support and resources, individuals can overcome their past challenges and lead successful, fulfilling lives. The mission of Brown Manor is to offer a hand-up rather than a handout, emphasizing rehabilitation and recovery. The facility aims to address the pervasive issue of homelessness by providing a structured environment where individuals can regain their footing and work towards a brighter future.

Rehabilitation model

Brown Manor employs a five-phase cognitive-based peer support system. This model is designed to foster personal growth and accountability among residents. The facility will have a house manager, and residents will be responsible for maintaining the property as part of their rehabilitation process.

Funding and support

All proceeds from Brown’s book, From Park Bench to Park Avenue, are directed towards the transformation of Brown Manor. He has also called on the global community to support the project through donations, emphasizing the importance of collective effort in tackling homelessness. Brown has launched an “adopt a room” campaign and a virtual walkthrough to engage the community and raise funds for these repairs.

I have heard from different states that the homeless problem is not diminishing. For years I have examined this and have been working on a viable solution that could change the trajectory of this situation. My name is Anthony Brown and I have met with several senators, mayors, and county officials who all say that same thing. “Yes, we want help, but no we don’t have the resources to help you”. When I hear things like this, I get motivated to get into action.

I took it as a challenge and now have this model that I created that is called Brown Manor. It is a five-phase cognitive-based peer support system. I have all the material to make this a reality and now I have purchased this building as you will see included with this letter. All I need is to fundraise to help offset the cost of repairing this structure. I have included a virtual walkthrough and “tags” where we have initiated the adopt a room campaign. Come take a look and be part of what we do. It takes a village to change the world.
